8-hour, 6-hour, 4-hour trip?

A 4-hour trip usually seems to go by faster than you'd like. Especially for beginners, we highly recommend 6- or 8-hour trips. You'll have more time to learn, fish, enjoy the surroundings, and savor the experience.

How Many and How Old?

Parties of one, two or three anglers are assigned one guide. Unless all clients are experienced anglers, we suggest that you book no more than two clients per guide. There are always exceptions, but a client should be at least 12 years old. There is no maximum age limit!

Kid's Programs!

Please ask about our Kid's Fishing Programs. Kid's learn about knots, bugs, flies, trout, water and fly casting while parents enjoy a guided trip. Great fun for the whole family!

What Happens and Where?

Beginners learn fly fishing basics. Intermediate and advanced anglers sharpen their skills. Destinations are in or near Rocky Mountain National Park, catch-and-release only. Private water, back-packing and horseback trips are also available.

Basic Terms and Conditions

bullet

All trips require a 50% deposit, with balance due on or before departure.

bullet

Estes Angler must receive any notice of cancellation at least 24 hours before a scheduled Regular trip (at least 48 hours before a Horseback, backpack or private water trip); otherwise, deposits are forfeited.

bullet

You'll also pay for any trout flies that you use or lose. They generally cost less than $2 apiece.

bullet

Guides gladly accept gratuities. (Folks often ask for guidelines on tipping. We encourage you to think as you would when dining in a fine restaurant. When you're happy with the service and what you get, consider a 20+% tip; if things are pretty good, a 15% tip; if not to your liking, consider less. The tip is up to you!)

Less Time, More Time, Your Time

A guided trip begins at your scheduled departure time and ends when you return to the shop. If your trip is cut short, we'll gladly refund your costs based on an hourly rate. If you and your guide agree to extend a trip, you'll be billed for extra time, also on an hourly rate - unless your guide calls for a bit of extra fishing at no charge. If you're on a tight schedule and must return by an appointed hour, please let us know. You'll find that both you and your guide lose track of time too easily while fly fishing!

What You'll Need

Both of our shops are full service fly fishing pro shops, so we've got all the gear you will ever need. Here's the list of goodies you'll want:
