St. Vrain Angler News & Muse March 21, 2006!

I hope this finds you well! There's more new snow on the ground and it is wet. This is good news. Don, my brother, says they've gotten quite a bit of snow in Estes Park. All good, my friends. Rachel reports heavy snow in Durango, too. Let's hope for more. The forecast calls for extra snow tomorrow, then warmer temperatures over the weekend.

Frank tell me the Big T is open all through the canyon. I think we'll head up there tomorrow for a few hours in the snow. It might be a little early, but if we're lucky we may see swarms of early small mayflies! If they emerge I know the fish will eat them.

At Boxwood and Longmeadow there are only a few days available in the next few weeks. If you'd like to join me for a day on the water, please let me know NOW as the times will fill very fast.

There is a two person minimum for each property, and I can take up to six folks for any of the dates. Each group of two people will have one guide. We'll provide a great day of fly fishing along with instruction that you need or want.

Last Saturday we had a wonderful Introduction To Fly Casting Class. I think everyone was a little frightened by the weather forecast, but we arrived at the park to sunny skies. The sun was warm. A slight breeze stirred from time to time and the air was cold. Still, we learned basic casting skills. Everyone did great. Everyone said they thought the class was a great deal. They said they learned a lot.

To keep from being fooled on the water I'm going to offer the next session on April's Fool, Saturday, April 1, 2006. We'll begin at 9AM and finish by about 12:30M.
