For the past few years, we've been holding irregular meetings - that is
meetings at irregular times that also happen to be pretty irregular, you
see? - to figure out how to tie these beautiful works of art.
Know what? We're actually getting pretty close. Some of the flies we've tied
look very nice, and everyone is having a good time. This is fly tying for
those who are not feint of
heart.
Tying full dress Atlantic Salmon flies takes patience and persistence. The
tier has to be ready for the unexpected to happen at any instant. We use a
variety of materials to tie these patterns, including some of the original
stuff, when it is legally available. For other patterns we use the closest
substitutes we can find when the original stuff is not readily, economically
or legally available.
Everyone is having a fine time in this pursuit, and we are
planning a weekend outing for a two-day tie-a-thon in the near future. Want to
join the fun? Call 303-651-6061 or send a note to
angler@peakpeak.com. We'll let you know when
the next session is and you are welcome to join us!
