One-on-one lessons are often the best way to teach and to learn fly tying skills. While group lessons are informative and entertaining, private lessons allow specific answers and demonstrations to specific questions and issues that we all have, and often do not get to ask.

I enjoy teaching one person - or two, and even three - at a time. For over thirty years I taught private piano lessons. This taught me to concentrate on the needs of my student, to pinpoint and communicate specific technical or artistic things and ways to rehearse and make them soar.

That’s my goal in teaching private fly tying lesson - or casting, for that matter: to encourage and teach specific skills that will set my student free so they can soar and thrive in this wonderful pastime.
