Introduction to Fly Tying

Introduction to Fly Tying is designed for anyone who has either never tied a fly, or has tied some flies but is uncertain of basic techniques and patterns.

The class covers selection and use of tools and materials as well as the techniques necessary to tie basic trout flies such as a Pheasant Tail, Copper John, Prince nymph, Hare's ear, Elk hair caddis, Adams and more. A great refresher class, it will help you learn fly names, tying techniques and prepare you for our other fly Tying Classes.

Hello Dale,

Just wanted to drop you a line to say that I caught my first fish on flies I tied myself on Saturday!

My buddy and I hit Clear Creek, both in the canyon and along Hwy6 and also between Idaho Springs and Georgetown along I-70. I caught all browns, while my buddy did rainbows and a token cutthroat, as well.

Private sessions available
