Laramie River

River: The Laramie River begins near Cameron Pass in Northern Colorado and runs out of Chambers Lake in Wyoming. This area is also home to Honholtz Lakes, of which number 3 is the best.

Fish: The Laramie is known for its brown trout! Some nice fish may be found in this river.

Bugs: Good variety of standard aquatic insects; there is a very good hatch of large mayflies in late June.

Flies: Standard imitations with emphasis on Adams dries and a Size 12 Quill Gordon for the large June Mayfly hatch!

Techniques: Fish the banks, edges and deep pools where the browns like to hide out. Good dry fly fishing with caddis, stone and mayflies throughout the summer.

Seasons: May be fished from ice-out to ice-on! Watch for run off, though.

Rating: Good
