River:
The Laramie River begins near Cameron Pass in Northern Colorado and runs out of
Chambers Lake in Wyoming. This area is also home to Honholtz Lakes, of which
number 3 is the best.
Fish:
The Laramie is known for its brown trout! Some nice fish may be found in this
river.
Bugs:
Good variety of standard aquatic insects; there is a very good hatch of large
mayflies in late June.
Flies:
Standard imitations with emphasis on Adams dries and a Size 12 Quill Gordon for
the large June Mayfly hatch!
Techniques:
Fish the banks, edges and deep pools where the browns like to hide out. Good dry
fly fishing with caddis, stone and mayflies throughout the summer.
Seasons:
May be fished from ice-out to ice-on! Watch for run off, though.
