St. Vrain Angler Presents

Helpful Fly Tying Tips

Tip: remember to take what you learn at the vise to the stream; and what you learn while fishing back to the vise. One of the key lessons from the stream is this: flies that are tied with crowded heads that fill the eye with stuff are hard to tie onto the tippet. Lesson to take to the vise: keep the eye of the hook clear of any and all material. Carelessness at the vise may lead to frustration on the stream, and that's not what fly fishing is about.

Follow the links to specific fly patterns and tying instructions. If there are any other flies you'd like to see, let me know and I'll add them as time allows.

Please remember that many of my Solutions Booklets have specific fly tying tips. Check them out and buy two or three; you'll be glad you did!

Thanks for reading. Have fun tying flies!
