A
wiper is a cross between a striped bass and a white bass. This gives the
species hybrid vigor. For the angler this means strength and speed!
A carp is a
lovely animal - to some folks, that is. Anathema for others, carp are hard
to catch and fun to fight and land. They are very
strong,
inhabit shallow water and can be spooky as a bonefish on the flats.
The good news for
local anglers is that both species live in abundance in local lakes and will
take flies.
St. Vrain Angler,
in cooperation with the City of Longmont, is hosting Carp and Wiper classes
at Union Reservoir during 2005.
